The use of a portfolio in secondary vocational education (MBO) offers several advantages for both students and teachers. Here are some reasons why using a portfolio in MBO can make sense:
Programme based testing
Using Simulise in programme based testing offers several advantages and fits well with the holistic approach to the assessment process.
Proof of competencies
Simulise can act as a repository for evidence of acquired competencies. This can range from certificates and assessments to projects and case studies, giving students tangible evidence of their competence.
Guidance and feedback
Building a portfolio often involves regular conversations and feedback sessions with teachers. This promotes active tutoring, where students receive support to improve their performance.
Reflections
Simulise allows students to document their professional development and reflect on their growth throughout the program. They can discuss and analyze their performance in projects, internships and other learning experiences.
Professional competencies
Students can use Simulise to demonstrate professional skills in a structured way. This can range from technical skills to communication and collaboration skills.
Vocational learning

Digital portfolio
With Simulise, we want to complete the picture of the student. In addition to the knowledge students gain, the development of competencies are also important. We record that in the portfolio.
Assignments
All assignments from now on in one place, in Simulise. As a teacher, you can prepare assignments. The form of the assignment, which is variable. For example, in the form of a blog, powerpoint, documents or combined.
Competencies
As a school, you decide which (vocational) competencies are important. Simulise supports that with formative assessment. Through rubrics you reflect on the current level. Everything forms into a clear competency diagram.
Forms
Forms allow you to fill out an assignment form. A form in the form of an assignment. Has the assignment been completed, thus completing the form? Then it can go directly into the student’s portfolio.
Privacy covenant / AVG
Simulise processes privacy-sensitive or personally identifiable information.
We respect the privacy of visitors and users and ensure that the personal information you give us is kept confidential. Personal data is therefore carefully processed and secured by us. Our processing takes place in accordance with the requirements of privacy legislation.

ISO 27001
By spring 2024, we plan to have our ISO 27001
Have certification around. Achieving ISO 27001 certification shows that Simulise is serious about information security. This will increase the confidence of schools, partners and other stakeholders in how we handle sensitive information.
E-Portfolio-NEN2035
E-Portfolio NL is a Dutch specification of a European agreement on the components of e-portfolios. This 2014 agreement ensures that users can share their data with other organizations.
Integration
Simulise offers integration with Kennisnet Entree and SURFconext for Single Sign On with the school’s account. Any user with an account from school can then log into Simulise or no longer need to log in if already logged in.
